By New Streetlights staff
The city of Charleston, South Carolina, seeks bids from suppliers able to supply over one hundred new LED streetlight fixtures for the city’s first significant installation of energy efficient streetlights. The city is funding the purchase and installation through a grant from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program of the US Department of Energy. The EECBG award is valued at $172,220. The goal of the project is to replace existing, decorative, mercury vapor streetlights with energy efficient LED fixtures.
The solicitation for bids includes specifications for LED modules for use in retrofits as well as complete LED luminaires. The 30 and 60 LED luminaires will be used to replace existing 175 watt mercury vapor streetlights. The initial request is for 108 LED fixtures, but the city may order additional fixtures at a future date. The city of Charleston’s bid document provides detailed project specifications including photometric performance which includes a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 5,000K ±500K, a color rendering index (CRI) with a minimum of 80 ±3 and a minimum lumen efficacy of 55 lm/w.
The complete Request for Proposals (RFP) documentation, including an addendum announcing a change in submission date, can be found here. Completed proposals must be submitted to the city of Charleston by October 31, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. Bids should be submitted to the City of Charleston, Procurement Division, 145 King Street, Suite 104, Charleston, South Carolina, 29401.
