Galt, California, issues RFP for purchase and installation of LED streetlights

The city of Galt, California, is in the process of soliciting bids for the city’s first LED streetlight installation. The city will is funding the project with a $133,736 award from the US Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program and a $55,000 award from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The request for proposals (RFP) is for the purchase and installation of new LED streetlight fixtures.
“We anticipate replacing two hundred to three hundred existing high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights with LED streetlights, depending on bid results,” said Trung Trinh, project manager for the city of Galt.
Project specifications and complete bid documents are available from the Galt city clerk’s office. A brief overview of the LED streetlight retrofit proposal is available on the city’s website. Completed bids must be submitted to the City of Galt by April 19, 2011 at 2:05 p.m. PST .
