Hailey, Idaho, issues RFP for 69 energy efficient streetlight fixtures

The city of Hailey, Idaho, seeks bids for a project requiring 69 energy efficient streetlight fixtures.
Hailey received federal funding from the US Department of Environmental Protection (EPA) for projects focused on energy efficiency and renewable resources. The Hailey Community Climate Challenge was organized to showcase how a small community can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and expand on existing initiatives to reduce energy consumption. The entire program was funded through a grant of $472,429, a portion of which has been designated for energy efficient streetlights. The project’s budget includes the purchase and installation of up to 70 new energy efficient streetlight fixtures.
According to projected calculations, all of the Community Climate Challenge projects will lead to an approximate annual reduction of 525 metric tons of CO2. The streetlighting component of the project will replace existing high pressure sodium (HPS) fixtures with new technology. Based on industry estimates, energy efficient streetlights, including LED technology, will reduce energy consumption by a range of 30% to 60% compared to the current fixtures installed.
A Request for Proposals (RFP) seeks bids for 69 energy efficient streetlight fixtures. Technical specifications include photometric performance which includes a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 5,000K ±500K, and a color rendering index (CRI) = 80±5. Additional requirements are that the fixture is classified as full cut off and meets the city’s Dark Sky Compliance requirements. The city of Hailey also encourages minority and women owned business enterprises to respond to the solicitation. Complete bid documents must be submitted to the City of Hailey Public Works Department, Hailey, Idaho by September 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. MST. Bid documents can be found here.
