The Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA), a wholesale electricity provider to 53 cities and towns in the State of Indiana, issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) on February 3, 2011 for the purchase of 503 LED Kits to retrofit existing decorative streetlights. The RFP states that over five hundred existing high pressure sodium, mercury vapor style fixtures will be replaced in this project. The project will be implemented by IMPA member communities.
Published in the RFP are key minimum requirements and technical specifications for the LED streetlight fixtures, some of which include: a list of utilities and municipalities currently using or testing the proposed fixture; demonstration of the commercial availability of the fixture; availability of IESNA LM-79 test reports; a correlated color temperature of 4,300 degrees K ±300; light output with a minimum color rendering index of 70; and kits that must fit on existing poles and be contained within existing globe coverings
All bids should be submitted electronically and on paper by February 21, 2011, to the IMPA offices. The project will be awarded on March 8, 2011, and the anticipated start date of the deployment is April 5, 2011. The project completion date is projected to be May 23, 2011. The RFP is available here.
