Kansas City area cooperative re-issues Request for Qualifications for decorative LED streetlights

The Mid-America Regional Council/Kansas City Regional Purchasing Cooperative (MARC/KCRPC) has re-issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the purchase of decorative, energy efficient streetlights. LED technology is one of the approved technologies for the project. The project is funded by a grant from the US Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. The MARC has partnered with the KCRPC to increase purchasing efficiency for 25 member communities and four member utilities.
The RFQ seeks proposals for 162 energy efficient decorative streetlights for four member communities. The cities installing the decorative streetlights are North Kansas City, Kearney, Oak Grove, and Lawson, Missouri. Criteria for selection include the suitability of the fixture for intended use, compatibility with existing fixtures and poles, price, and other factors determined by each city. Although all high performing energy efficient decorative fixtures will be considered, the RFQ specifies LED fixtures manufactured by Stresscrete, Holophane, GE, USAR, and King as the preferred fixtures. The project is also interested in assessing how the streetlight technology can be coupled with timed dimmers.
Completed proposals must be received by Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at 2:30 PM at the offices of MARC/KCRPC. Requests for clarification must be submitted to the program coordinator by Monday, November 21, 2011. The contract period is for December 19, 2011, through December 18, 2012, with an option to renew for four additional one year periods.
