The city of Modesto, California, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for the city’s first large scale LED streetlight upgrade initiative. Funding for the project comes from an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG), an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) program administered by the U.S. Department of Energy. EECBG funding for the city of Modesto was $460,000, although engineers’ estimates indicate that the project is valued at approximately $369,875.
Bid specifications for the project include the purchase and installation of 450 cobra head LED luminaires, which will replace existing 120 volt 200 watt high pressure sodium (HPS) fixtures. A further component to the bid calls for the purchase and installation of 225 post top mount, 360 degree illumination luminaires, and 55 post top mount 180 degree illumination luminaires. The total number of LED streetlights to be replaced under this proposal is 730 fixtures.
A non-mandatory pre-bidders meeting will be held on Thursday, February 10, at 11:00 a.m. in the city of Modesto. Completed bids are due and must be submitted to the city of Modesto by March 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. The estimated time for project completion is sixty working days. Bid documents can be found here.
