Mount Pleasant, Michigan, issues RFP for 170 LED streetlights

The city of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, is the recipient of an advanced lighting technology grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). This grant was awarded through the Michigan Energy Office and was funded by the US Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. Mount Pleasant was awarded $99,743 to be used for the purchase and installation of LED streetlight retrofit kits. The city has specified that it is seeking bids for the Relume Illumadisk LED retrofit kits.
According to city officials, the project involves the replacement of existing 250 watt and 150 watt high pressure sodium (HPS) and metal halide streetlights with LED technology. Although the bid document specifies the Relume retrofit kit, bids for equivalent products will be considered.
The city has identified 170 existing streetlights for replacement in what is termed Priority 1. This includes fifty-six 250 watt and one hundred fourteen 150 watt streetlights. Alternate pricing is requested for a Priority 2 project which includes twenty-one 250 watt and six 150 watt streetlights. All retrofit kits will be installed on existing poles. The project must be completed by February 12, 2012.
Completed bids must be submitted by November 15, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. to the Office of the City Clerk of Mount Pleasant. Sealed envelopes must be clearly marked “LED Streetlighting Retrofit Project – November 15, 2011.” Complete bid documents can be found here.
