Santa Monica, California, seeks new bids for 500 LED streetlight project

The city of Santa Monica, California, has chosen to re-issue bid documents for its upcoming LED streetlight installation. The approximately 500 LED streetlight project is funded by a $668,000 grant from the US Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. The grant is locally administered by the California Energy Commission (CEC).
“The basic parameters of the project are going to be the same. However, the city decided to combine the base bid and additive alternative items,” said Carlos Rosales, civil engineer for the city of Santa Monica. The proposed scope of work includes replacing existing residential cobrahead streetlights with LED fixtures. In addition to the residential installations, cobrahead, pendant and floodlight fixtures are specified for the Santa Monica Pier. “The new bid document is scheduled to be released this week,” said Rosales.
Complete bid documents and project specifications are now available here. The announcement of the bid will also be advertised again in the Santa Monica Daily Press. Bids will be due on August 11, 2011.
