Stowe, Vermont, issues RFP for 149 LED streetlight fixtures
Tuesday, October 18, 2011
By New Streetlights staff
The town of Stowe, Vermont, has received funding for its first LED streetlighting initiative and plans to replace most of its streetlight inventory. The goal of the program is to replace existing metal halide fixtures with LED fixtures which will combine desired illumination levels while yielding maximum energy efficiency. The town of Stowe has an approved budget of $30,000 for the purchase of LED fixtures and is also eligible to receive rebates through Efficiency Vermont, the state’s energy efficiency utility. The town plans to replace approximately 149 existing metal halide cobrahead streetlight fixtures with LED fixtures. All LED fixtures submitted for review must be included on the Design Lights Consortium qualified list of products.
Stowe’s existing metal halide streetlights consist of 175 watt, 250 watt and 400 watt fixtures and are primarily located on Main Street, South Main Street, Mountain Road, Maple Street, and Village side streets. In addition to the 149 cobrahead streetlights, the town also owns 46 decorative fixtures. City officials hope to convert as many cobrahead fixtures as the budget permits. The city’s bid document provides detailed project specifications including photometric performance which includes a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 4,000K ±K, a color rendering index (CRI) with a minimum of 75, and the fixtures must include hardware to mount the fixture to existing poles and arms.
The complete request for proposals (RFP) document can be found here, and maps of Stowe’s streetlights can be found here. Completed proposals must be submitted to the town of Stowe no later than 4:30 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2011. Vendors are expected to be available to meet with town representatives to present their proposals and demonstrate products either October 26 or October 27, 2011.
