Products from induction and LED streetlight manufacturers are being tested by the city of Pomona, California, prior to deployment of $1.4 million of energy efficient streetlights later this year.
Pomona has received confirmation of its Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) award from the Department of Energy. The amount of the award is $1.4 million.
Pomona is currently running a small, sixty day pilot to test and evaluate the fixtures of six LED streetlight manufacturers and two induction streetlight manufacturers. The city will analyze test data as well as community feedback.
City officials will create a short list of vendors who will be eligible to bid on the larger program after the 60 day evaluation project is completed.
The list of vendors will be made public at the conclusion of the pilot project.
