Initiative

Install 6 LED streetlights for a pilot project to test LED

streetlighting on Hwy 146. Pilot is in collaboration with the

Texas Department of Transportation and BetaLED. TxDOT is

using pilot to test and evaluate LED technology for potential

future installations on Texas highways and interstates.

Currently no LED streetlights have been approved for

installation on Texas interstates or highways.

Existing roadway lights on highways are 400 watt HPS

Long term initiative

City of Baytown is looking at replacing traditional roadway

streetlights with LED technology (in addition to city highways)

Beta LED fixtures are 240 LEDs (291 watt equivalent)
