Long term initiative Replace all existing streetlights with LED fixtures. Because San Marcos adopted a rural lighting standard (due to its proximity to the Palomar Observatory) the city has significantly fewer streetlights than other cities of similar size. Total estimated cost $1.5-2.75 million.
