Large cities and counties in California have been awarded approximately $10 million in federal funds to be used for LED streetlight projects. The stimulus funds are Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants (EECBG) from the US Department of Energy. The cities and counties have received the funds, but few have issued RFPs, which are likely to be released after mid-year 2010. Small California cities and counties continue to apply for funds, and their applications are due January 2010.
