The California Energy Commission (CEC) has started the process of distributing up to $35.5 million of federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants (EECBGs) to eligible small cities and counties in California.
The CEC will use a formula to distribute the funds, which will be used to install cost-effective energy efficient retrofits.
The CEC is accepting applications until January 12, 2010.
Answers to questions from cities and counties will be posted on the CEC website on an ongoing basis. The CEC is conducting a live webinar on October 22, 2009, at 9:00 am PST.
The allocation formula multiplies $5 by the total population, plus additional funds based on the city or county’s unemployment rate. The minimum funding amount for a city is $25,000, and the minimum funding amount for a county is $50,000.
