The Capital City Development Corporation (CCDC), of the city of Boise, Idaho, is preparing a next phase installation of LED streetlights as part of the city’s streetscape project. The enhanced streetscapes include roadways, sidewalks and historic lighting. The city’s streetscape project is funded by the CCDC through property taxes. Plans anticipate implementing this year’s streetscape projects by July 2013.
According to the current bid document, the CCDC project includes the purchase of 80 historic streetlight fixtures, historic glass globes, and historic light poles. The bid document also specifies that only approved LED fixtures may be submitted for evaluation. These include Holophane and Cooper Lighting.
The city of Boise previously installed 1,200 historic LED streetlights, and about 1,000 roadway LED streetlights as part of a city-wide program to improve energy efficiency. Energy consumption has been reduced by nearly 70 percent compared to the existing streetlight fixtures. The previous deployments also included fixtures manufactured by Holophane and Cooper Lighting.
