LED streetlight luminaires manufactured by GE Lighting of East Cleveland, Ohio and Relume Technologies of Oxford, Michigan, were selected as “best in class” at the Next Generation Luminaires Design Competition for outdoor lighting.
This annual competition began in 2008 to promote excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED commercial lighting fixtures, and is sponsored by the US Department of Energy, the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, and the International Association of Lighting Designers.
A panel of eight judges drawn from across the architectural lighting design community, independently evaluated the luminaires by assessing their color quality, appropriate illuminance, light distribution, glare control, aesthetic appearance and style, serviceability and replacement, value, and energy efficiency.
The winning entry in the streetscape lighting category was Relume Technologies’ Oxford decorative acorn streetscape and walkway fixture.
The winning entry in the roadway lighting category was GE Lighting’s Evolve™ LED Scalable Cobrahead roadway lighting fixture.
The NGL judges also awarded recognition to Cooper Lighting of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Excellence Opto Inc., of Pomona, California for entries submitted in the roadway lighting category. In the streetscape lighting category, special recognition was awarded to GE Lighting of East Cleveland, Ohio, and Landscape Forms, of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
