The Oklahoma State Energy Office (SEO) has issued a funding opportunity for local communities interested in implementing energy efficient technology. Grant applications for awards up to $100,000 will be considered by the Oklahoma SEO. Eligible projects include solid-state LED streetlighting. Applicants must submit an existing Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy with their application. The funding is part of the state’s Energy Smart Community Program.
The Energy Smart Community Program encourages communities to develop programs which reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, and ensure reliable, affordable energy for the community. Grant recipients are required to contribute (in cash, in kind, or both) an amount no less than 20% of the total funds requested. The maximum grant awarded under the current program is $100,000. Projects will be evaluated on criteria established by the Oklahoma SEO including reduction of energy costs, energy savings and sustainability of the program.
Applications must be submitted to the Oklahoma SEO by 4:00 p.m. on July 20, 2012. Projects must be completed by June 30, 2013. The Request for Proposals (RFP) and Application can be found here.
