The winners of the 2013 Next Generation Luminaires (NGL) outdoor lighting competition have been announced.
According to NGL, the judging panel selected the luminaires on the basis of color quality, appropriate illuminance, light distribution, glare control, appearance, serviceability, and value. Energy efficiency and lumen maintenance were evaluated quantitatively based on required documentation, and flexibility, innovation, and controllability were taken into consideration when appropriate.
The judging panel included Anne Cheney (Cooley Monato Studio Design), Nancy Clanton (Clanton & Associates), Mike Lambert (KCL Engineering), Mary Matteson Bryan (Energy Engineering), Nate Mitton (Kimco Realty Corporation), and Joe Paulson (City of Boulder).
The LED streetlight selected as Best in Class – Local Residential Roadway Lighting was LED Roadway’s NXT-S LED streetlight luminaire.
The LED streetlights selected in the Recognized category for major roadway lighting are manufactured by Evolucia, Schreder Lighting LLC, and Toshiba.
The LED streetlight selected in the Recognized category for collector roadway lighting is manufactured by Schreder Lighting LLC.
The LED streetlight selected in the Recognized category for local residential roadway lighting is manufactured by Evluma.
The winners were announced at the 2014 Strategies in Light conference on February 27, 2014.
