The city of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, has issued a Request for Quotations (RFQ) for the establishment of an LED streetlighting program. The city seeks a vendor to supply and install LED streetlights for currently designed projects, as well as identify a supplier for future LED streetlight installations. The term of the RFQ include a one year term with a one year option to supply LED streetlight fixtures. Initially, the goal is to replace 4,652 existing high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights with LED cobrahead luminaires and install 184 new LED fixtures throughout the city.
According to the bid document, the existing 4,652 HPS cobrahead streetlight fixtures Lethbridge has targeted for replacement include 145 of its 70 watt fixtures; 2,294 of its 100 watt fixtures; 129 of its 150 watt fixtures; 1,272 of its 200 watt fixtures; 541 of its 250 watt fixtures; and 271 of its 400 watt fixtures. Included in the specifications for new installations are 45 new, 200 watt equivalent cobrahead LED fixtures and 139 new, 250 watt equivalent cobrahead LED streetlights.
A component of the bid requires respondents to submit sample LED fixtures for review and possible field testing. The manufacturer must also demonstrate evidence of no less than three years experience in manufacturing LED lighting products. Additionally, references are required to show installation and operation of the submitted fixture, of at least one year, in three North American locations. Photometric requirements of the LED fixtures include a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 4,300K (+/- 10% testing tolerance) and a minimum color rendering index (CRI) of 60. LM-79 and LM-80 reports are also required for each submitted fixture.
