The city of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, issued a Request for Quotations (RFQ) for the purchase of decorative LED luminaires. The project intends to replace existing high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights with energy efficient solid-state lighting which will be mounted on existing poles. The city plans to purchase approximately 241 LED streetlights for the proposed project which is planned for the downtown corridor.
The current project is part of an ongoing series of LED streetlight installations initiated by the city of Lethbridge nearly two years ago. To date, the city has replaced over 4,000 existing HPS streetlights with LED streetlights.
For the proposed project, no manufacturer has been specified for the Type 2 and Type 3 LED fixtures. However, photometric and performance requirements include a color rendering index (CRI) of 60, a correlated color temperature (CCT) of no more than 4,300 K, and must be dark sky compliant.
According to the bid document, bidders must demonstrate evidence of no less than three years of experience in the manufacturing of LED products, and provide a minimum of three references indicating where the LED product has been operating for at least one year in North America.
