Municipalities in the state of Michigan will be spending $17.4 million of federal stimulus funds on projects that involve LED streetlights.
Michigan state officials will announce its awards of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) funds for 88 LED demonstration projects and 181 multi-purpose projects. Many of the multi-purpose projects will include an LED streetlight component.
The submission deadline for cities and counties was November 5, 2009. The state will allocate $17.4 million for energy efficiency projects. According to officials, there were no restrictions on energy applications, and many applicants have chosen LED streetlight projects.
