The Centennial campus of the North Carolina State University (NCSU) is continuing its program to convert campus lighting to LED technology. In early July, the university, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, issued a Request for Quotations (RFQ) for the purchase of LED area fixtures to be installed around the Engineering III building. The new LED fixtures will replace existing high intensity discharge (HID) area lights. This installation is funded by a grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
According to the bid document, the NCSU will replace four Type V and nine Type III HID area fixtures with LED area fixtures, and is only soliciting bids for the purchase of fixtures. Suppliers must be able to provide one sample fixture for a test installation. Included among the LED fixture descriptions are specifications for correlated color temperature of 5,100 K, 60 to 66 diodes, capability of operating at 277 volts, and a complete retrofit kit. Buy American provisions apply.
Final bids must be submitted to NCSU’s Purchasing Department by July 19, 2011. Questions regarding the bid may be submitted to Dianne Pantelides at email@example.com. Complete bid documents are available here.
