The Regional Municipality of Niagara has issued a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the purchase and delivery of LED streetlights. The Regional Municipality consists of twelve municipalities in the southern region of Ontario, Canada. The communities include Fort Erie, Grimsby, Lincoln, Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Pelham, Port Colborne, St. Catherine’s, Thorold, Wainfleet, Welland, and West Lincoln. Most of the communities have significant experience in conversion to LED streetlights. The town of Welland previously deployed one of the largest installations in the nation. The province of Ontario has also been instrumental in promoting the switch to energy efficient solid-state streetlighting.
The Regional Municipality is expected to purchase one hundred cobrahead LED streetlights for distribution among the member communities.
According to the bid document, the Niagara region is seeking responses to a request for cobrahead-style LED streetlights from Philips Lumec or GE Lighting. Bidders are asked to submit bids for either one or both options.
