In February 2012 the council of the town of Riverhead, New York approved the community’s first purchase and installation of decorative LED post top streetlights for the town’s Main Street district. Recently, a second project was approved as a continuation of the town’ s move toward energy efficiency and energy cost reduction. A Request for Proposals (RFP) for the purchase of 66 decorative post top LED streetlights has been issued.
According to the bid document, the town intends to purchase 66 GE Evolve decorative post top LED streetlights. According to analysts, the installation of the energy efficient streetlight luminaires will result in energy cost savings of about 60%. The town also expects to see significant savings from reduced maintenance costs. The town will also consider approved equivalents which meet the performance metrics of the GE Evolve luminaire. Product specifications include an LM-79 report, a correlated color temperature of 4,100K, a color rendering index of ≥65, and a minimum five year warranty for light fixtures and LED components.
Completed bids must be submitted to the town of Riverhead by Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. EST. Project plans and specifications are available for viewing at the office of the Town Clerk on the city’s website at www.townofriverheadny.gov. The complete bid document can be found here.
