An Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affiars (ADECA) grant will be used by the city of Robertsdale, Alabama, to finance the city’s first LED streetlighting initiative. ADECA locally administers grant awards from the US Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. The $90,000 grant will be used to purchase 124 LED streetlight fixtures.
The city currently owns and operates about 1,100 cobrahead streetlights ranging from 175 watts to 400 watts. The majority of the city’s streetlights are 250 watt high pressure sodium fixtures. The total streetlight inventory also includes mercury vapor and metal halide. The proposed installation will be deployed on Highway 59, a state route.
Complete bids must be submitted to the city of Robertsdale by March 9, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Bid documents may be requested by contacting Greg Smith, city engineer, at firstname.lastname@example.org. A summary of the Advertisement for Bids can be found here.
