The city of Seattle, Washington, seeks a vendor for 70 watt LED streetlight fixtures and has issued an Invitation to Bid for the city’s upcoming streetlight installation project.
The city has previously indicated that it plans to deploy up to 10,000 LED fixtures. In early 2011, the city pre-qualified LED fixtures after a formal submission and review process managed by Seattle City Light, the city’s municipal utility. All interested manufacturers meeting minimum requirements were invited to submit LED fixtures for testing and evaluation. As a result of the evaluation conducted by Lighting Design Lab, contracted by Seattle City Light to perform the analysis, the city chose 70 watt LED streetlight fixtures manufactured by BetaLED, a division of Ruud Lighting of Racine, Wisconsin, and Leotek Electronics of Milpitas, California, for the upcoming installation.
The Invitation to Bid seeks to identify qualified vendors to supply fixtures by both manufacturers at the lowest price. According to the bid document, the city of Seattle may award contracts to more than one vendor in order to meet city specified product delivery schedules. The city is particularly interested in vendors with extensive experience in supplying LED streetlights in addition to providing the product at the lowest price.
An optional pre-bidders conference will be held on July 6, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. PDT at the City Purchasing Office, 700 5th Avenue, Suite 4112, Seattle, Washington.
Complete and sealed bids are due to the City of Seattle on July 11, 2011, at 3:15 PDT. Bids should be addressed to Sharon Rothwell, City Purchasing, PO Box 94687, Seattle, WA, 98124-4687.
