The city of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, recently completed an installation of new LED streetlight fixtures on the city’s roadways. The city replaced 331 existing 250 watt high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights with LED fixtures manufactured by BetaLED, a division of Ruud Lighting of Racine, Wisconsin. City officials selected principal arterial, minor arterial and collector roadways for the new streetlights. The project was completed in February 2011.
Stevens Point recently initiated a second streetlighting project, which involves up to 24 decorative LED streetlight fixtures. The installation is slated for the Stevens Point downtown square area and will be funded by the remaining funds from an award from the US Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. The city was originally allocated $155,000 for energy efficient streetlights.
“We have specified in the bid document that we are looking to install the Philips Hadco decorative post-top LED fixture, said Lance Musack, engineering technician for the city of Stevens Point. However, vendors may also supply information about equivalent fixtures. Completed bids must be submitted to the city by April 11, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. A project summary is available on the following website.
