The city of Waukesha, Wisconsin, has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the purchase of LED streetlights. The city plans to install over one hundred LED streetlights under the proposed project. Plans include ten cobrahead LED streetlight luminaires and one hundred seven post top LED luminaires.
“This project is targeting the downtown area. Eventually we plan to convert all of the existing HPS post top streetlights to LED in that area,” said Dale Evans, project manager for the city of Waukesha. The city is working on replacing all city-owned streetlights as funds become available. To date, the city has replaced nearly 700 existing HPS cobrahead streetlights with LED streetlights. The current project is expected to begin in Summer 2014.
The LED streetlight fixtures specified in the bid document include cobrahead LED streetlights manufactured by Cooper/Lumarc and post top LED streetlights manufactured by Hadco. According to the bid document, bidders may only submit bids for the specified products, equivalent LED streetlights will not be considered.
