The city of Yonkers, New York, is planning an overhaul of the city’s streetlight system and has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the project. The streetlight effort involves a comprehensive energy audit, streetlight audit, design, implementation and maintenance of new energy efficient cobrahead LED streetlights. The new LED fixtures will replace all of the city’s existing high intensity discharge (HID) streetlights. The city of Yonkers currently owns approximately 11,952 streetlights.
According to the bid document, responders must submit evidence of qualifications to perform the streetlight and energy audit, design, engineering, procurement and installation of equipment. Proposals will be evaluated using the following criteria (1) proposer experience and qualifications (2) financial approach (3) technical approach, and (4) project management and implementation.
The bid document does not specify a particular LED fixture or manufacturer; however, all fixtures submitted for the bid must be listed by the Design Lights Consortium. The proposed LED streetlight fixture must be accompanied by a product data sheet, LM-79 and LM-80 reports, and photometric data.
